Psi Society Investigations

Here is some more information about Psi Society investigations. If you have questions unanswered here please feel free to contact us.

Why does the Psi Society carry out investigations?

To satisfy our own intellectual curiosity.

What is the Psi Society attempting to prove with its investigations?

We are not trying to prove (or disprove) anything! Our investigations are not intended to support the claims made by psychics, astrologers, numerologists and similar. Nor are they in any way intended to debunk individuals or ideas. At the end of our investigations you will not find us concluding that, for example, tarot readings are accurate or numerology works better than guesswork. In fact you will not find us concluding anything - there no conclusions to be found on this website.

We provide details of what our investigations involved and the results - the conclusions are up to you.

How accurate are the Psi Society investigations?

For each investigation, we post the methods and results. If there is a problem, let us know and we'll post it. We provide the information, how you use it is up to you (if you publish it, you must state the Psi Society as your source). We do everything we can to ensure all investigations are carried out fairly and accurately.

What about any conflicts of interest?

If there are any it will be mentioned. When professionals are used, for example an astrologer or numerologist, then we will give them the opportunity to have their contact details posted at the end of the investigation. Additionally, if they want to make any special offers available to Psi-Society.com users they may do so. Obviously, they have an interest in the investigation showing accurate results however this is not a conflict of interest because they have no control over the investigation.

Who devises the investigations?

Members of the Psi Society discuss areas of individual interest and devise investigations from there. If something captures the imagination of one of the members it is most likely to end up as an investigation.

How do you find the professionals to work with?

Once an investigation has been devised, we will approach people working in that field. If they are happy to take part then we can begin.

Why are you obsessed with anonymity?

Firstly, this is to protect our participants. There are numerous internet scams designed to trick people into revealing personal information in order to rip them off. We wouldn't expect anyone taking part in our investigations to give us any more information than we'd be prepared to give a stranger online. Please click this link to read about Phishing

Secondly, the less we know about individual participants the cleaner our results. If someone gives us their Myspace or Facebook page, or uses an email account attached to a personal website - we would be open to accusations that we simply visited their site and fed information to the professionals involved.

When it comes to sending information online - if in doubt, leave it out!
